The Holidays May Be Over

The Holidays May Be Over, but the Love Lives On at Phoenix House

The holidays have come and gone, but the warmth, joy, and gratitude they brought to Phoenix House are still very much alive. This season was a special one for our dogs, filled with full bellies, wagging tails, and a few unforgettable milestones along the way.

Thanks to our incredible supporters and volunteers, the dogs of Phoenix House truly got to experience the magic of the holidays. Festive meals filled with extra love (and extra treats!) made mealtimes even more exciting than usual. Christmas morning brought presents of all kinds—new toys to squeak, cozy blankets to snuggle into, and special chews that kept tails wagging for hours. Watching each dog discover their gift reminded us just how joyful the simplest moments can be.

And yes—even at the Phoenix House, we managed to enjoy a little taste of winter! Snow storms turned the yard into a brand-new adventure. Some dogs bounced through it with playful curiosity, others cautiously investigated the cold beneath their paws, and a few simply soaked it all in from the sidelines. It was a beautiful reminder that new experiences, no matter how small, help our dogs grow in confidence and spirit.

Perhaps the greatest gift of all this holiday season was seeing a few of our Phoenix House dogs head home with their forever families. Each adoption is a celebration, not just for the dog leaving our care, but for everyone who played a role in their journey—from rescue and rehabilitation to love, patience, and hope. Saying goodbye is always bittersweet, but knowing a dog is starting a new chapter makes it all worthwhile.

As we step into the new year, Phoenix House remains full of dogs still waiting for their chance at a forever home. The holidays may be over, but their need for love, care, and support continues every single day. Whether through adopting, fostering, volunteering, or donating, your involvement makes moments like these possible.

From all of us at Home At Last Dog Rescue—and especially from the dogs of Phoenix House—thank you for making this holiday season one to remember. We can’t wait to see what the new year brings.
