I'm ready for my new family!

Sitar (Chi)

I'm Available
Sitar is a 6–7-year-old 10.5 lb Chihuahua, and you may want to sit down to read Sitar’s gut-wrenching story. He was found in an unsanitary hoarding situation with 72 other chihuahuas in an 800-square-foot rowhome in Philadelphia. He and his siblings were never allowed outside, had never seen grass before, and many were not healthy. He had little socialization with people, and no vet care prior to being rescued. Despite this story right out of a horror movie, Sitar could not be coming along better. Watching him experiencing the world for the first time, and doing so with openness, has his foster mom in tears daily (and she is documenting this all on Instagram @freedomswayfosters – check out the highlighted story).

Sitar is a shy guy, learning to love being loved on, and warming up more and more every day. He will need patience in his new home as he learns to love you. Despite his nervousness, he is a Velcro dog, always at his foster parent’s feet and following them around. His foster mom thinks he is basically a cat, preferring to be an inside dog (going outside to do his business very quickly than begging to be picked up and brought inside), completely content to lie in the corner near his people but not having to be on their lap, and always sleepy like cats. While the vet guessed Sitar is about 6-7, he may just be a little bit older given his lower energy tendencies and cute grey speckles amidst his beautiful tan coat. The other cute feature of Sitar is his lip coloring, making it look like his tongue is always out, but really, it’s just his lip! Sitar cutest feature is that when he is held and you are walking with him, he swims right along, paddling the whole way! Go check out the Instagram mentioned above for a video of it!

To our surprise given his background, Sitar is also crate trained, very quiet (no barking), and potty trained – not an accident inside yet!
We are still getting to know Sitar but we can tell he’s a great dog with a ton of potential to be the best buddy of kids, dogs, and cats alike! With a little patience as he warms up to you, he will make his future family very happy! Could that be you? Apply today!  Adoption fee is $400.
You can also follow along with his time in foster care @freedomswayfosters on Instagram! He is fostered in Warrington PA and his foster mom can be reached at Cheryl.hal.volunteer@gmail.com.
