I'm ready for my new family!

Hi there! My name is Riley and I'm a 1-yr old Red Heeler, aka an Australian Cattle Dog. I had a really tough start to my life - that anyone could mistreat me makes me very sad - but I just got my second chance recently and now I'm so happy that I can barely contain myself (did somebody say, "Zoomies?")!!

 

I love my person/people SO much, and I really want to be with them 24/7. My foster dad keeps telling me that I'm super-smart because I'm always watching and learning, whether that's at his side, staring out the windows/doors, or even popping my head through the shower curtain (surprise!). Unfortunately nobody tried to train me before, so I'm not a fan of my crate or being separated yet but I am slowly improving. I'm also getting the hang of that whole leash thing now that I've discovered a harness, and boy, do I looooove going outside for walks or the occasional run with Dad (though I wish we'd go more often)! I'm getting more and more trusting of new people every day, and most importantly, I haven't had any accidents inside lately!! Dad is a bit of a buzzkill and keeps reminding me to use the lawn, but technically the garden and deck are a part of outside, too ;-).

 

I keep hearing that I'm your typical herding dog, whatever that means. All I know is that I like exploring boundaries (of all kinds lol), and I want everyone to follow my lead now that I've found my inner-confidence! I'm not afraid to be stubborn or get vocal about it, and I've also got the energy to run circles around you for days. If and when you make me happy, though, I've been told that I'm as loyal as any dog could possibly be! Apparently I give the *BEST* hugs and kisses, too...
