Hi, I'm Melba! I'm a 5 year old female pure golden retriever. I was a breeding dog at a puppy mill, but now I've been rescued and am excited to start my new life! I'm still a little shy but I'm getting more confidence every day. I love to go on walks and I walk very well on the leash. My favorite place is snuggling and snoozing with my humans.I'm house-trained and great with other low-to-mid-energy dogs. Cats and kids are unknown, but I am one of the sweetest, gentlest dog that my foster parents have ever had.I would probably do best in a home with another dog who can show me the ropes and give me confidence. Because I'm still gaining confidence, my adopters will need to give me time and patience to come out of my shell, but once I do, I'm very happy to see you!I'm a bit overweight right now, and my ideal weight is probably 70-80lbs. My foster parents are helping me lose some of my mill mama pounds, but whoever adopts me will need to continue to make sure I'm active so I can live my best life!
You can see more photos and videos of me and follow my journey at @hal_adoptable_pups on Instagram.
Melba is a benefactor dog and her adoption fee of $650 helps offset medical costs for another HAL dog in need.
