Adoption Process

So You Want To Adopt Your New Best Friend

Home At Last Dog Rescue will consider adoptive families in the North Wales and surrounding areas only. This is simply due to logistics and distance of travel for our volunteers. Our goal is to make the best rescue match taking into consideration the dog's background and your family's needs. Every dog is different: personality, temperament, energy, comfort with kids and other animals, medical needs and more. We take all these factors into consideration when making a furever-home match. We are very careful about the placements we make. We do our best to match the right dog with the right adoptive home because we want this to be the pet's permanent home.

you are an ideal candidate for Home At Last Dog Rescue. As our success rate proves, these precious dogs are well worth the wait.

OUR PROCESS

Apply
  1. We appreciate you wanting to bring a dog into your home. In order for us to ensure the right match for the dog and the family, we need you to submit an adoption application. This is best completed on a laptop. If you did not receive an email confirmation, your application did not go through. Please apply again!
  2. To make sure we get all the information from you, please include 2 personal (Non-Family) references and release your medical vet records for any current/previous pets.If you have applied within the last 6 months or are interested in multiple dogs, there’s no need to reapply unless any of your personal information has changed! Just send us an e-mail to let us know which dog(s) you’re currently interested in adopting.
  3. Unfortunately we cannot hold dogs for a future adoption date. Holding an animal in a foster home would mean we'd have less space available for animals that are in life or death situations and need our help. If you are interested in a specific animal that is ready for adoption, you must be prepared to adopt right away.
Review
  1. We review all applications for each dog to decide which home best suits the dog’s needs. Applications are not given priority based on the order they are received. Completing an adoption application is not a guarantee that you will receive the dog you apply for. Home At Last reserves the right to reject an application as we see fit.
  2. We call your personal references and veterinarian and/or landlord if applicable. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered and up to date on required vaccinations. We conduct a home visit. These checks are performed to ensure that you will be a responsible pet parent who will provide a safe home environment and appropriate care including routine vetting. During a home visit, in addition to assessing the living situation we observe the dog’s behavior, especially around any children or other pets you may have.
  3. At any point in the approval process Home At Last reserves the right to reject an application. Even though your application may be completely processed it is not a guarantee that you will be selected as the adopter of the dog you’ve applied for. Additionally, Home At Last reserves the right to process your application again when you move your interest to another dog.
FInalization of ADoption

In order to finalize an adoption, you’ll sign our adoption contract and pay an adoption fee which is necessary to cover expenses like spaying/neutering, routine vetting, vaccinating, and transporting our dogs.
